Great video file player but there is still room for improvement..., November 10, 2011 By TsunamiGEO (OR United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (Electronics) i wanted a cheap but good video file player to connect to my HDTV. preferrably around $100. i did some research and i had only 3 worthy choices at the time of purchase, which was the MP1000, micca, nbox. i picked the MP1000 for the wider file format support than micca and nbox, and it doesn't have the audio sync problem due to pausing that micca and nbox users were reporting.
i mostly use the diamond MP1000 to play 720p MKV videos from an external hard drive connected via USB. so my review and experience is based on this. i got this player in february 2011 so i've used it for several months before writing this review.
[GOOD]
- plays more formats than micca or nbox players [as of when i bought it]. plays all the major popular formats such as: MKV, MP4, AVI, WMV, FLV, MOV, ISO.
- no audio sync problem due to pausing [a problem that micca and nbox players have based on reviews]
- allows subtitle repositioning and resizing

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Small and versatile, plays smooth 1080P, July 18, 2010 This review is from: Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (Electronics) I have had it for 3 weeks, plays movies without problems (my DVD and BluRay backups, mp3, mp4...). Playing movies was smooth - a pleasant experience, no jerking of any kind. Your experience might be different - I was using 7200rpm external SATA hard drive.
Being hard of hearing the Closed Captioning support was a total must for me and it does the job albeit not extensively, picture encoded captions are not supported (the kind of CC your TV show when receiving broadcast signal, which are the only captions some movies have, rendering it unwatchable for hearing disabled), only those captions are supported which you can directly pick from movie stream (if any).
Would be nice to have it remember your captioning preference instead it make you to turns captions on every time you change file, default is captioning OFF.
Lackluster media browsing, in folder with many media files it take forever to find what you want, player attempting preview anything you have in your... Read more

Not disappointed to far.., November 7, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (Electronics) I bought this product on the recommendation of a friend.
It's been able to play the .mkv files that I have. The audio and video remain in sync after forward and rewind of the file. The remote has a volume control (1-32 levels). It had to be kept at max. and my TV volume at a reasonably high side (+50 or so, I keep it at around 18-20 for regular TV programs) to get a decent audible output. Still that's the main problem. If the files don't have good audio you'd need headphones to really enjoy the movie.
Also it couldn't play some .flv files that I have which the player claims to be able to. Now I can play those on my laptop, so I know the files aren't corrupt. Also it couldn't play the 3gp converted to .avi files (from my cell phone). My old Philips DVD player can play the audio track out of that at least. This fellow says the file is unsupported.
Apart from that it loads my .jpg images real fast, and displays them without much effort. I still haven't... Read more
