PLAYS DVDS FROM ANY REGION 0-6. 110V/240V VOLTAGE PET729/37. (Electronics) The Philips PET729 works well as a multi-region code-free zone-free PAL/NTSC portable DVD player. I tested the unit's multi-region playback capability with successful playback of commercial region 1 (NTSC), region 2 (PAL), and region 4 (PAL) DVDs, as well as home-recorded DVD-RW and DVD-R. Because the unit does not convert automatically between NTSC and PAL video output, I had to use the video preferences menu to toggle between the two output formats.
The Philips PET729 works well as a TV also. During the automatic channel scan, the included antenna received all of the 14 available over-the-air DTV channels.
I am very pleased with the Philips PET729. In my opinion, the PET729 would be even better if it had a larger screen size and higher-quality audio output. I also appreciate the capability of viewing the TV under battery power in case of a power failure.
